Hey OC .... St Bees ? Where is that on a map ? It looks very idillic  ... one of those places that is nice now but even in the winter for a bit of dog walking that looks a great place to go  ! Anywhere for a mug of tea and a sticky bun ?

Rusty St Bees is a small coastal resort about 3-4 miles South of Whitehaven on the N.W coast of Cumbria

There's a really lovely beach and well kept grass area leading to the beach, which is where I was sat and took the picture from, there's some nice cafes and great riding roads. It was a lovely hot clear day and the I.O.M was clearly visible.

I haven't been there for ages, and  I don't know why really as its only about an hour or so from here

Having worked in Monaco I can assure you it is a horrible place. To put everything into context at Christmas they put red carpets on the pavements. This, however, does not stop the residents from allowing their dogs fouling the pavements. They then splash a bit of water about and to make matters worse proceed to spead everything that is left even more by trying to brush it away. Just bear this in mind next time you see all the picture of the rich and famous pransing around. Dirty, crowded and noisy is my summation of the place where even the most humble think they are the mutt's nuts but in fact are not.
Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

I too have been , luckily at company expense, it was about 18 years ago, we stayed at Loews Hotel and it wasn't that great, I watched people betting thousands of whatever money in chips on the spin of a wheel or the turn of a card. frankly I thought it was an altogether unpleasant place.. We finished the meeting off with a visit to Jimmys club, where the prices were truly extortionate, something like £80 for a round of 6 drinks, good job I was on expenses

There was some fantastic boats/yachts in the marina
