Anyone know how to get the case off the sensor. I can prise it open and see the battery but it seems to be glued by the end opposite the battery. Had tyre on back changed today and even the mechanic could not get into it.

Ubertours

Theres a tiny crosshead screw under the sticker

viper

are you planning to solder the batteries in yourself ??

rippers

Hi Viper

No. I was at my tyre place today, and the guy who always looks after my tyres had the sensor out, did a great job but could not get into the unit. You have on this forum told me to look under the sticker. I had a back tyre put on, and in the winter had seen low battery shown. I know what to tell him next time. Thanks.

viper

the unit isnt designed to have a battery changed, however a competent person with a soldering iron can do it , my tyre guy wouldnt attempt it, dont think many would

During the winter I had the warning low battery coming up on rear tyre, so decided to change when I had the tyre fitted next. But are you saying I need a new unit, that is very expensive I guess.

viper

technically you need a new unit , but as i said a new battery can be soldered into place, if you need advice on how to open the unit im guessing you are not a soldering iron kinda guy. there is a guy on ebay that does a battery replacement service, there is a thread on here for him.

.

- there is a chap on EBay whom you can send your TPS unit to and he'll do the new battery for a small fee.

I have now had tyre fitted and the read out seems ok. It does get a bit tempramental in cold weather. I will look at the e bay guy.

This site is brilliant when you want technical information. Thanks to all.
