Received my Bagster tank cover which is supposed to match the 2012 Blackish blue model and its way out on colour. It is just too blue...

So I have ended up asking for a black one from a 2010-2011 model to get a better match. Still not perfect but come on Baglux, get a grip please!!!!!!

Darren, I think Baglux stuff is very good, but the coloured ones are always way off, better of with black me thinks .
What would you rather be   or a wasp?

I would like one of these but in Magnesium Grey - (the fastest colour) ! Anybody got one so I know the match is good?

Baglux are brilliant - both Tigers had 'em but the price for the GTR one is excessive considering its more of a "cap" than a true "cover. Some of them involve a lot of tailoring to fit the tank but the GTR one looks simpler IMHO.

well I've got the lead bagster cover on my gtr1400 and it's a reasonable match, not perfect :nono: but it's impossible to get a perfect match with color dyes on leather to match paint on metal and plastics, here is a pic of my cover on my gtr  and a link to the bagster cover on ebay if you fancy buying one

That doesn't look too bad at all. Big shelf in garage by the bike and I dropped a can of WD40 on the tiger. Wasnt happy ! Even more so if I did the same on this beauty!

Tip for all: Before fitting cover ensure its warm and flexible and cover the tank with cling film before putting it on. The road dust and grime creeps under the cover and puts micro scratches on the tank especially at the front.

agree.. with the warming of the tank cover before fitting  but the cling film.. there's really :nono: need for that  I've forgotten  how many bagster tank covers I've had and fitted over the years, and most of them have been on for years. only removing when have sold the bike. I do however.. give the tank a good coat of quality polish before fitting the cover, the tanks have always still look like brand new when the cover has been removed

Point taken  but the fact that you've polished the tank prior to fitting the cover shows the tank would benefit. A trip to very dusty parts probably put most of the dust under my cover on tigger with hindsight!

Only issue I could see with cling film, is it's 'cling' feature.  If a piece of grit gets clung to it it could do  a lot of damage.

Better with a thicker cover like the venture shield / 3M stuff or even sticky backed plastic!

Well I made sure I didn't get grit underneath the film! Thought you would have mentioned duct tape!

Not Tom Cruise neither - he is as short as hamster though  :mfr_lol: I like your joined up thinking!

I have had Bagster on all my previous bikes, but the one for the GTR looks a bit of a dogs breakfast IMO, and I went with the Kawasaki clear tank protector film.

No Tommy, you misunderstood me - I meant if grit got stuck to the outside 'on' the cling film it would be held there and the slight movement taking a Bagster bag on and off (refuelling for example) may aggravate the grit in a concentrated area causing a lot more damage than a transient piece that would eject fairly quickly.  A thicker under harness film may be better.

I won't get a tank bag for my GT because it fits similar to a Bagster and I won't risk damaging it.

Never had a tank bag as on the R1 as it sat too high and touched my chest. Never needed the capacity on the tigers. Still fancy a colour matched one for the GTR. They are quality and the ebay link is a few quid cheaper than the usual £104. Also if you order from baglux there is sometimes a lead time for uncommon models.

Had a Bagster on my Blackbird and found it a great bit of kit - saved the tank in a tumble and never got any serious damge from grit ingress to be honest.  Took it off a couple of times a year to check it and heavily polish the paintwork!

They are ugly as sin however - I like shiny - and when the SW Motech/Bags Connection system came out I jumped ship and bought one.  Far better and you could still see shiny bits, plus no chance of damage as they sit proud or tank.

there's only 2 reasons why I polish the tank before fitting the cover. "one" the cover will be staying for a long time so won't be polishing it again anytime soon  "two" it's the best way to make sure there's no grit or dirt trapped before I fitting the cover.

I always use the medium size bagster bag called the "minear" it's a good size unexpanded and I can excess all the items I need in a hurry fast.. I did find the minear bag a little to big for my zx6r for everyday use for my butties for work e.t.c  so bought the bagster tweety bag which I found perfect for carrying your phone, camara, visor cleaner e.t.c for day trips and it doesn't get in the way when getting a move on  the fact that some may think the bagster looks :shit: is irrelevant as far as I'm concearned, what's more important to me is..  I can carry what I need to and it dose not hinder me in any way
