Well folks Allan from the North East of Jockland , just got a red ( Brown to me ) GTR 2012 yesterday and now at 700 miles I think its pretty good , no probs with screen ,power fine suspension not there yet ( bit of fiddling req ) brakes pretty good for the weight of it , comfy quick etc , went over by Glenshee on the way home and commuting to Sunny Aberdeen today and tommorow ( Yes sunny as in big yellow thing in sky ) all in all very happy , still no idea about key though its pretty strang just marching off with it still in ignition................. :whistling:

Allan, welcome to the forum. Red you say but brown, which is it then, red or brown? The brakes on the GTR are excellent so perhaps your's are still bedding in. If you know how make sure you put a picture on the forum,we all like to look at each others bikes.  If your'e unsure how to post pictures theres a step by step guide here.....http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,1756.0.html

Enjoy the bike,
Steve

A BIG welcome  :185: from a wet Lake District Allan, good to see another new member on board.

As your bike is a 2012 model the colour will be Candy Arabian Red.. I saw one that colour at the 1000 bike festival at Mallory recentlty and it's a lovely colour, so if you can post some pictures that would be good.

You will find this a good humoured friendly forum with plenty advice/comments and just a bit of piss taking  :mfr_lol:

BTW. I'm guessing from your chosen forum name that you are a suspension guru ???

Need glasses..... it looked more brown than red but hey ho will go for red , 900 miles so far , pic was outide Fettercairn just came over the Cairn O Mount road , as for suspension guru I wish  , just spent enough to finance the war on terror on suspension ( Mainly Ohlins and KTech ) started with a new GPZ 900 R wayyyyy back and set them all up myself , best on was a ZZR 1100 D model and the R1 I failed miserably managed to get it handling like an aircraft carrier in a gale , so it got taken to a lad in fife who worked for various teams , and well the difference is stunning , anyway chuffed to bits with the GTR key is a bit different though .....

Allan.

Welcome from the other end of GB. Lovely looking bike, not sure about the colour. Would need to see it in proper daylight. Hope you find the forum useful, although vast quantities of bollox written by one and all, there is some extremely useful information and the banter is always spot on.
Better to be old and grey than the alternative!

Yes it does look better in the flesh , much better , was going to buy a Triumph Explorer and did like it but the dealer had this on demo and I asked for a go ....had pretty much made up my mind inside of 20 miles , cracking bike there is no mass produced machine that wont have faults of some kind but this is one of the better bikes so far , I started on a Super Dream in 1978 then a Z 1000 etc

:185: Allan, Glad you have joined us, this is the place to be if you own a GTR. All kinds of help and info to be found right here. I'm sure you will enjoy the bike, and even leaving the key in, but the fob in your pocket is second nature after a while. Also you will find a really nice bunch of blokes on here, although they do tend to extract the urine out of old people. !!!!!!!!!!     Your not old are you Allan?  I'll bet your are not as old as me, "I'm 64 ya know" No of course you dont, but I tend to mention it occasionally  . Anyway enough of this light hearted shilly shallying.   Enjoy the forum, and of course the bike .
What would you rather be   or a wasp?
