I get out on the bike this weekend. Just a ride to the East coast to the old mans!
Early evening ride so it was near enough dark when I set off.
I had the heated vest on and it was toasty pretty much of the way.
Although it was bloody scary a one point! When I got onto the unlit roads with no cars in front of me it was pitch black, couldn't see any of the road ahead. I pulled in at a garage at Fridaythorpe and adjusted the headlights.... they were lighting up the road 5m in front of me instead of the 25 that is more preferable. Once they were adjusted up it was a much more pleasant ride, none of the aarggghhh there's a corner!!
I found the bike a little stuttery at the bottom end, but not as bad as the Hayabusa. The engines feel pretty similar tho, strange they enen sound similar. It may just be my age!! lol
It was goot to get out again.
Even managed nearly 190 miles on the tank! I'm sure I could get more.
The bike is coming up 4000 miles soon, service time according to the book, but then again according to the schedule it just a check round. Anyone had a 4000 service at the dealers?

A power commander will sort out the bottom end. How did you find the seat? The first time I took it out I kept sliding forward. Now I actually prefer the seat as some how I've managed to work out how not to get thrust forward.

My bike has full dealer service, but that's just because I don't want to have any issues with warranty (I have extended warranty). Once that runs out I'll be servicing myself.

Two things you might want to consider about ride quality. Firstly, a custom suspension setup goes along way. Secondly, the tyres you have make a huge difference.

I'm impressed that you managed 190 miles out of a tank. I'm refuelling much earlier than that - mainly because of a throttle heavy right hand!

Please that you finally got out on the bike. The weather is definately picking up now, onwards and upwards. It can only get better.    ;D

The aeros on the GTR are different to that of the Busa, if you ducked behind the screen of the Busa MPG would go up but it seemed quite the reverse when I was playing on the motorway.
Could be the untidy rear end!

Lonewolf

Its a big heavy touring bike which you still managed to get almost 190 miles out of a tank. Thats not a bad effort.

Nygie

I'll try and control the wrist a little better next time ;D see if i can get that magical 200!

Martin#30

I always get 220-230 miles from a tank, must be riding like a wuss.

When I took mine in for the 4,000 mile service a few weeks back, I was surprised to be asked if I also wanted the oil and filter changed as it was not a standard part of the 4,000 mile service. I chose to take up their offer, and the service was £180 IIRC.

I agree entirely about the poorly aimed headlights, mine was the same. The bloke setting them at the factory must have 8 foot arms and be sitting on the top box rack at the time  ;D

Martin.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

Nygie

220 - 230 holy crap, thats ultra good.
Manufacturing tolerances I reckon, my mate had a Busa that was similar, we'd be hacking along Mway at the same speed and he'd be getting an extra 8mpg than me! Go figure.

Kwikasfuki

220 - 230? Wow  :o

When I purchased my bike the previous owner was averaging about 46mpg according to the trip computer. Last time I looked it was in the mid 30s.

NB, if your bike is only doing 30 something to the gallon there must be something amiss.

This is typical of most of my trips, 50 ish to the gallon.  ;D

Kwikasfuki

:D I know what is amiss, and its a heavy right hand! I can get the MPG up but I can't bear the thought of plodding along  ;D

I'll take a pic of my display tomorrow. I'm sure its at ~35MPG. BTW, 50 MPG is good going. I put the same amount of petrol (cost wise) per week as I would do if I was driving my diesel.

It was actually around the 39 mpg mark. Not bad considering how I ride the bike

Yes, I know the bike needs a good clean
No, I haven't done 1500 miles. The dash got replaced, so mileage is at 30k
