I'm not afraid to ask advice if I'm unsure. Rather do it correctly than  According to the manual you can't hand tighten it. Getting a torque wrench onto it was impossible so I did hand tight and a quarter turn I think. Probably over tightened it.

- I watched our local service center do the 1st service on my bike.

- they used a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter. A filter wrench with an extension was used , which they inserted through the opening in the fairing behind the front wheel.

With the right tool it's easy.
As for tightening it I have always hand tightened and the given it a tweak with the socket.
Oil, I use 10W40 semi-synth but I have never replaced the air filter as was always done at the dealers.
Next service coming up is the biggie (50k miles) so need valves checked, plugs replaced, etc.
Not sure about doing the valves myself but will give it a go.
I've done shim-under-bucket before and it's a PITA.

If the weather forecast is anything to go by, me thinks you had best go to Steves via the canal system Asif. :boat:
