when i purchased my gtr it came with a 2 year warranty, with some of the issue's i've seen on here regarding warped disc's ect ect,i'm thinking of extending it a further 2 year's.have many one here done that,i think in the long run if your not intending to sell the bike & keeping it,it's well worth thinking about.it was mentioned to me when i when i payed for the bike.

My bike is still within the initial 2 year warranty but without a shadow of a doubt I will be spending £350 to buy the extended warranty. Piece of mind is priceless.

As a high mileage user with a fair share of warranty claims behind me, I agree with the sentiment. I'd be intrigued to know how many warranty claims get honored by the *extended* warranty though.

I would expect the Kawa extended warranty to be run by a third party insurance company, not Kawasaki themselves. Thus, I would expect lots of "that's wear and tear, sir" as decisions are just based on underwriting numbers, no sense of brand or customer loyalty from Kawasaki.

Just my 2p. I will be servicing the bike myself, forgetting the warranty, and putting the 'saved' money in a "when it goes wrong" pot.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

I think the extended warranty is with kawasaki direct. All my claims have been honoured. Well worth the money imo.

Couldn't agree more Martin. At the end of the day your are buying insurance, and these people have made an art form of finding ways NOT to pay out on claims. !!!!!Ah yes, "but sorry sir that is not covered". Another point is, do they insist that the bike is serviced at a dealer, or will they accept a claim even if you have serviced the bike yourself? as I have done since day 1. Has anyone taken out an extended warranty, and can wise us up on some of the wording?

I bought my gtr at 15 months old with 1000 miles on the clock. However the 1st service was not stamped in the book untill the selling dealer carried it out before i had the bike  delivered and as a precaution I had the final drive oil changed too.

Then its next service was done about a 1000 miles late (I was ridng the bike too much) and   I applied for the extended warranty at that time.

The K dealer serviced the bike and reported to K UK that there were no issues that would affect warranty and the warranty was extended.

So far I've only needed to have the tyre pressue sensors replaced.

Well worth the money in my opinion.

you will need to have full dealer servicing and exactly on schedule, could add up to a pretty penny if you are a high miler. Im personally going to under write the warranty myself with the saved money, the most expensive and probable fault would be something like a rear shaft drive failure, plenty of 2nd parts now on ebay.

I put my first warranty claim in last week on the Tuesday morning for a seized preload adjuster. Kwak dealer contacted me on the Thursday of the same week. Kawasaki had not only honoured the claim but had within this two day period delivered the replacement part to the dealer.

Nobody can say that is not excellent service.

great to hear, its amazing what a global recession can do to companys customer service standards

to be fair I think Kawasaki have always been one of the better franchises in respect of warranty claims and resulting customer satisfaction

Mine is only 9 months old, but so far had a claim on the seized pre-load of the rear shock. If I've still got the bike towards the end of the 2 year period I'll probably be extending it.
Current - Kawasaki 1400 GTR
Previously - Kawasaki Versys, Honda 650 Deauville, Honda 125 Varadero

I think even if you intend to sell it at three years old it would be worth having the extended warranty. It'll give you the edge to sell a bike, especially privately with a full twelve months warranty left on it.

Thats certainly what I intend to do.

is it transferrable Steve ?

On the one hand I have to agree in that so far in 9 months I have had the usual disks, pads, rear shock adjuster but they flatley deny there is any issue with the vibration through the handlebars when if you google the symptom there are hundreds of postings about it and even a Facebook page about it, talk about sticking there head in the sand on this one.
