front brake SQUEEL

i took my gtr back to the dealers last weekend,booked it in because the join on the link pipe/collector was leaking,they done a quick fix which didn't work so i ended up doing myself & it's now sorted,while i was there i had to mention there was a squeel when i applied the front brake,there reply was we have not got time to take the pads out,but we will have a look.i watched the work in progress,they did not remove the link pipe,they simply applied a little paste to the offending area attempting to seal it !!!!! as for the brakes the applied brake cleaner to the disc's,JOB DONE,i dont think so.i guess i'll have to take the pad's out myself & apply a little copper slip behind the pad's,i've not done it yet as i need a torque wrench to know it's done properly,anyone on here recommend HALFORD'S PROFESSIONAL TOOL'S looking at there 3/8''--- 6/45 lbf/ft torque wrench & allso considering getting the 1/2''--- 30 to 150lbf/.ft as it may come in handy.

When  first got the GTR, the front brakes squeeled. It should be noted that ALL brakes squeel and depending on the pitch and volume, this may or may not be heard by human ears. I removed the pads, cleaned the grooves in the linings, cleaned the caliper areas with brake cleaner and put it back together. All was well for about 5,000 miles and tehn teh sqieel came back. Reminds me of my 1981 Morris Marina, which did exactly the same. Just a case of thorough and regular cleaning I guess.

cheer's olde coney,i'm all sorted.i ended up getting a 8-60Nm(6-45lbf.ft) 3/8th drive.
and a 40-200Nm(30-150lbf.ft) 1/2''drive,both halford's professional,just under £150 the pair,with a lifetime guarantee,i'm happy with that.
