Does anyone know the procedure for resetting when you have a new sensor fitted, DIY job or a trip to the stealer ?

Dealer. Make sure you have the code on the sensor written down before mounting it on wheel as they will need it

hi viper,
yes you will need the sensor code to put "into" the bike,,,an yes,,,,its a dealer job or someone whos got the "puter gear",,,. I know from experiance, had to have a new tyre fitted, they damaged the sensor, ordered a new one an fitted it,,,but it didnt work!!!!! so tock it to a dealer to have the tyre taken off for the third time!!!!!!! :shit:, cost me £35. plus vat.
An yes i wont be going back to the original place again,,,amatures!!!!!!

viper

same here , my tyre guy has damaged the sensor, even though i stood over him and told where the sensor was , mounted under the valve, he crushed it with the bead breaker. new sensor is gonna cost shit loads and then the trip to the dealer, if they are just programming it in i wonder what the cost will be.

jenros

think the sensor is about 45 quid, ish, to programe it was 35 plus vat an a tenner to take the tyre off to get the bar code off it,,,,,the fooking dummies!!!!!,
this place i went to has been in the game for about 45 years mind,,,,the fitter there has been there for at least 22 years that i know of,,,,
surely i cant be the first one to put a bike in with tyre sencors on?????,just think they were being very sloppy,,,,,twats,,,,wha pisses me off was at the time i was working away from home an they had the bike for 12 bloody days!!!!(i dropped it off early mon morning, went there sat morn to pick it up,an only then did they tell me the sensor was knackered, didnt admit to wrecking it at first, but tried to make out that it was damaged!,so i had to wait untill the following week to pick it up an only on the sunday did i notice that the sensors were not working).
hope you get it sorted soon mate, take care

Viper, please tell me you are not paying for the sensor if the tyre fitter has destroyed it?

Jenros, I could be wrong but I believe the sensors are considerably more than £45! I'm sure you are talking almost £200 per sensor. Could even be more.

O.C.

Same happened to me. I told him where the TPS sensor was and not to break there. First thing he does is start to break the bread at the valve. I had to shout at him to stop. He got offended, called his boss over. So I had to explain again. It was only when I mentioned the cost that it hit home.

According to my local motorbike shop they'd just done the same to a BMW a few weeks ago.

the sensors are approx £170 these days, you can buy just the valve bit for £45. Re who pays for it, the tyre guy is sort of a friend , I went to his wifes funeral on wednesday , I supplied the tyre and he was just charging me a fiver to change it over, if im a twat with him he would pay for the sensor , but as we buried his wife this week and we had a little cry in the back office about it all , i just cant bring myself to insist on the payment, its just life I guess.

TBH im more concerned about our epic bike trip that starts in  12 days time, was hoping to get some miles in today to get the arse into shape but bikes off the road now

jenros

hi guys, as i said,i was told it was about 45 quid,!,, since the "dummy" guys wrecked it,they paid for it,,,,,,,,, an since they had the bike almost 2 wks, an they still couldnt fathom "why" it wasnt working, they actually said to me-"have you given it a fair run?,think it charges its self on movement"!!!!!!
so, there was no way i was going to go back to them to even TRY to fathom out how to do it,thats why i went to another dealer aprox 10mls away, (south wales superbikes) they have in the last 12 mths lost there kwaka dealership status, but can still do any work you require, except warranty work, because they have as said,,,lost there kwak franchise or wha ever it called!

Viper, that makes perfect sense now. Apologies for any offence.

no offence taken so we are all good.
Turns out just the valve part of the sensor needs replacing which is £37 from the dealer, takes 5-10 days or 48 hours if you pay £12 for express picking.

£37 for a tyre valve  :2guns:
