Is the Silkolene Comp 4 synthetic or semi-synthetic?

It comes in both flavours

Full synthetic (and Ester based ), so it is very good stuff. Just a pity we do not get it here in South Africa !!!

"COMP 4 RANGE

Synthetic ester based 4-stroke engine oils, with Electrosyntec Technology, for all high performance motorcycles. Has an exceptional stay-in-grade formula that protects engines and transmissions and combats wear and friction on all critical load surfaces, even at high temperatures and during cold starts. Formulated to meet the needs of both air and water cooled 4-stroke engines."

I'll be changing oil in a few weeks. I'll try that out.

Who sells it in the UK or do I buy online?

Good morning from a very wet, cold and windy Port Elizabeth in South Africa !! ( But I'm sure that you guys are used to this type of weather in the UK !).
I am requesting yet again from you to please let me know what BRAND & TYPE of oil you are using in your bike. I find the different opinions and experiences on this site very usefull and one can make an informed decision based on that.

I'm using Shell Advance Ultra 4T 10w-40. It's a full synthetic, MA2 rating.
I used Motul 5100 with no problems but tried the Shell because it's what the dealer uses - GTR runs and shifts well and * maybe * a tad quieter with the Shell.

Regards
Max.

PS I think we sometimes over think the whole "which oil is best for my bike " question - I reckon if you use any decent brand name oil that meets Kawasaki specs, change it regularly and ride the bike sympathetically it'll probably go forever.

Deon

Thanks for your reply Max Way. I agree with you on your statement about overthinking the oil thing. It is just interesting for me to note what you guys are using as you get extreme weather conditions there.

Silkolene Comp 4 has been ordered.
I assume I will need 5L of this stuff as the capacity is 4.7l?

Desperately trying not to go off subject but ..........my ZZR1400 gearbox whines like a wife with a  basketful of ironing while I am out playing on my GTR....HAHA.

And my man from Essex Performance has recommended Putoline 20/50 fully synthetic at £50 quid a 4litre bottle. Will get the bike back on Friday and see if it's helped.

Yup. £50 for 4 litres. Fully synthetic race oil. Hoping it will stop the whine in second gear.

A lot I know but if that's say £30 more than normal oil but it solves the problem, I for one will be a happy bunny.
