I was in Hawes a couple of weeks back (March 12th I think) and met a guy with his GTR and his mate had a Tenere.  Don't know if he is a member but if he is, hope you both got back home.   :tank:

Just because many do it does not make it right. Just because many think it does not make it true.

If anyone sits infront me with there foot on brakes dazzling me weather I am in car or on bike. I put my head lights in main beam.  I do it too if they are riding there brakes down hills.

uhmmm - question is does it make them change their behaviour ie stop riding the brakes?

If it doesn't then it's totally pointless and of no benefit what so ever - your actions could be considered hazardous to other road users, not just the car in front but to other coming vehicles

So what do you suggest ??????, do i continue to have my eyesight impared by the brake lights ???, is this not hazardous too ???, i always turn my full beam off once they get the message and i only do it when stationary, my gripe is leaving the brakes on when stationary.

I appreciate its or can be really annoying - like  people driving at night with rear fog lights on when there is no need.

If a vehicle comes up behind you and puts their full beam would you know why they had done that?
There could be any number of reasons why somebody would do that, the fact that somebody takes their foot of the brake is probably pure coincidence because most people wouldn't appreciate or understand why it was causing you a problem.

Again - I agree, to admonish someone in the way described is a worse 'act' as it is done on purpose.

For a start off they won't know why you - the nasty biker - is blinding them.  They will form the impression that all bikers are dicks, as they will just see a bike with high beam on that clearly wants to blind them for no apparent reason.

When training CBT riders we always tell them to keep a brake light on when stationary (traffic lights etc) to warn others of their presence and in case they are hit they at least have some control.  Do you never hold your brake on when stationary?  On a gradient for example?

OK cars have handbrakes, but if holding temporary is it necessary to set it?

Consider also automatics - a lot more out there than there used to be - held on the footbrake quite often to either stop going if in drive, or to place into drive if in neutral.

Top and bottom of it is that by deliberately putting beam on high - careless inconsiderate driving/riding - won't achieve anything other than making other road users think you are careless and have forgotten to turn off high beam, and potentially give all bikers a bad name.
