i collect my gtr on tuesday,i was going to leave the standard silencer on the bike, wouldn't mind something more pleasing to the eye & something a bit lighter, going along the line's of going for a beowulf endcan & link pipe,i only sorted the insurance for this the other day,WOULD YOU RING THEM & TELL THEM YOUR INTENSION'S,or would you just change it.

Tapps ... this was talked about very recently .... will someone with more IT skills than me please post the link to "EEk .. Insurance time" .. or something like that  ( ? ) ...
...and the general thought is that if you are adding anything to the bike that is performance enhancing .. and you are ... then tell them. `It's very simple .. if you DON'T tell them and you are involved in any claim and they find bits on your bike they don't know about they will just void your policy ... they want your money but don't want to give it back... that's what they are there for, to make money. I would be pretty certain that this is in your small print.
My personal advice is tell them if you are changing ANYTHING .... then you just can't go wrong. If you are dishonest and they find out ... you is fooked.

I fitted a Remus Hexacone, phoned my insurance company (Footman James ) and there was no extra charge as it was not a race can .

hi try going to the extreme stainless site, you will get an excellent system at over half the price of a boewulf.i had the carbon street legal pipe on mine and to be honest it was like riding a different bike, much much lighter looked a squilloin times better than the stock pipe (my opininon),sounds great, and i am sure i had more horses with it. i think i am right in saying that the all stainless steel systems  pipes carry,a really generous garantee, there is a video on you tube of my old sadly missed gtr 1400  type  effyzzr   into the search bar to view it,good luck with what you choose  keith

I seem to remember that my Remus can (on BMW) is CE approved road legal and brings less than 5% enhancement (no cat) in which case no charge.  However, I beleve you must to tell the buggers.  They will always look for an excuse not to pay.

I insured my car, which had some mods, with the same company for six years.  Every year when the renewal paperwork came, they had left off the mods :nono:  :gun_bandana:

Eventually sacked them and got a 30% better deal elsewhere Sons of whatsits- the industry in general.  Same deal with building insurance, asked them to look at a reduction, after eight years.....no way.   Got for 50% less.  Ever since. the first lot have been trying to undercut the new lot.

The problems could be due to IT taking the place of people :hammer:

" I just want someone to talk to"   Me too Yossa
Just because many do it does not make it right. Just because many think it does not make it true.
