At last the bike emerged today and I had a 60 mile run upto Denbigh to A&D Motorcycles for it's 11000 mile service and 1st MOT. Although the bike has covered 14.7k miles  Mr K had no issues with the mileage creep last year when i extended the warranty.

It didnt seem like 4 months since I last rode the bike and all the reasons why i love the GTR soon came back!

My other half, Pam, came up in the car so we could go for lunch while the service was done and we used 2 way radios to keep in touch.

One little hiccup though.  I needed to  refuel the bike before leaving town for the journey and I (not sure how!) managed to bend the big key while it was in the filler cap. I very gently got it straight but not obviously not straight enough as it went back into the ignition switch and worked ok but wouldn't come back out again.

When we went back to pick the GTR the service MOT were done without issues and the key was straight!

When dropping te bike off I had asked about the getting the tyre pressure sensors replaced underwarranty as on very cold mornings the display shows a low battery warning for a while. The intial repsonse was that the dealer needs to see the dispaly showing low battery, but they also said that K will change them out of warranty period  (not heard before!) becasue they are a selaed unit. However when we collected the bike they had contacted K and 2 new sensors are on order. A good response from K.

The journey home was better than the outward. I was getting rid of my winter rustyness and once I was happy that Pam knew the way back I made a bit of progress. I just love taking the engine upto 10k in 2nd gear (on an odd occasion)    and with the Beowulf can it sounds fab!

The cost today was £186 including the mot but I had saked them to change the engine oil and final drive oil both of which are over and above the service spec.

Roll on Sunday for my 1st event of the year with the NEG and then an afternoon rideout with Pam on the back.

Speaking of Pam.... she was somewhat surprised to see how far the bike leans whilst folwing me in the car!!

O.C.

Peg scraping and boot sole rubbing are very possible on the GTR

BTW Patrick, I would be very careful with the main key which is now difficult to remove on your bike, as it does sound as if it has gone back into the ignition whilst bent, once keys get bent and partyially straightened they can and often do easily snap.

If it breaks off whilst in situ it could result in expensive repairs

I've the boot touching the road!

Good point re the key and although it is going in and out without any resistance now its probably worth getting it replaced.
