:)Picked up my 2008 GTR on Saturday and rode some 70 miles back to Portsmouth, my mate on his GSXR1000 moaned about the wind...What wind, that electric screen is great (last owner had fitted a touring taller version). Beowulf exhaust that really sounds great, nice riding position (just sold my Busa which crippled my knees after some distance) and lots of toys to play with. Early days I know but I read all the reviews and in comparison to some other "fast" tourers the GTR came out on top or at least a viable alternative to the "top guns". As a point of note I purchased from Oxford Performance Centre and dealt with a great guy called Mad Mike, he looked after me, never got fazed with all my questions and certainly never laughed during my frantic purchase negotiations. I got a great deal on this bike and he sneaked cleaning products/oil into the panniers and filled up the bike with a full tank of fuel while the mechanic was having a fag.  ;D All in all a top guy. Will keep you all posted on my travels, although these are likely to start in the nicer weather!!!!!Lastly, a great autocom system is fitted...gonna be great for the mrs to shout at me!

dasad, welcome to the forum. Great choice of bike, you will never be disappointed with it. Hopefully no regrets at selling the Busa. Do you think your mate with his GSXR will follow your suit? ;D

Do you tend to do much travelling/touring on the bike or is it more of a commute? Also I'm contemplating getting an Autocom system within a month or so, which system do you have on yours?

Sorry for all the questions, keep it safe, LW

Hi and welcome to the forums dasad.

Trust me, you won't be disappointed with your purchase. I have an 08 model as well with tons of after market accessories (and still adding to the list). But the best accessory I had today was my balaclava cause it felt like -10 coming over the Pennines.

What's the mileage and condition of the bike?

Hi all, not missing the busa at all and really happy with the GTR. My mate Ken with the GSXR has decided (after a little play on mine) that it is perhaps time to follow suit and buy a bike for the "real world we all live in" rather than a race rep that will cost him his licence the way he rides! Perhaps he should read the reviews though and he will understand that the GTR is not actually a slow bike at all when let off its leash, just a lot more comfortable! I don't commute but do like the distance stuff, I do frequent the IOM TT which is a great ride to liverpool followed by a some great roads on the island (not too mention the racing to boot). Will look at the autocom system tommorow and get the model for you. Mileage and condition-4000 lowly miles with one owner, needless to say it is in excellent condition. FSH, I reckon the previous owner purchased and did a few big tours and that was it. Thanks for the welcome gents!!!

hi dasad u'll find the gtr has more than enough poke to put some sports bikes  to shame. i only opened the throttle fully once and had to hold on. acceleration was amazing. if you want more power aftermarket exhaust, power commander and pulling the flies is the way to go

dasad, when you do find out which Autocom system you have fitted, can you share where you have it fitted as well and how it is powered?

Hi all, my apologies that I have not as yet determined which model of autocom I have fitted, work has run away with me...Though I did have a great ride out on Sunday morning..Cold but dry at least...Loomies are great for breakfast in Hampshire if anyone passing through!!!Will stop being lazy (only a case of lifting my seat and checking) and post autocom info this weekend. Good riding all until the snow starts. ;)

dasad, no worries. I have an Autocom system now which I bought a few days ago. Conveniently it fits snugly into the tool tray under the seat which is very handy for the power source too. I'm going to have a wired connection to the sat nav, recommended by Autocom over the bluetooth option. I'm also going to fit a second camera system to the bike which will connect directly to the Autocom and this will also allow me to do commentary which will be recorded directly onto a SD card along with the video footage.

A nice little project for me to put together over Christmas.

You say about fast...I passed a Blackbird the other day on A39 from Bude back up to Bideford...He tried...but he could not keep up. Blew him away. Let him pull up beside me on R about where I was turning off for home. Think he clocked fact it was the GTR as he nodded. Must really pee them off when they cant keep up with something that has Panniers....LOL

Unlucky, just cause its a tourer, doesnt mean its a slow tourer! ;D
