maybe this as been answered before but i'll ask anyway!
will any of the sat nav mounts take any sat nav? and if so which is best? as i have a few car ones and dont really want to spend another £3-400 on another as most of my riding is fine weather unless i'm caught out  alternative is a strap on bag which i dont like the look of,thxs guys

If you are planning to run a GPS on your bike using its own battery power supply then I guess there are a few options available to you, depending of course, on the make of your specific GPS

For example a mount for a TomTom won't accept a Garmin and visa versa

If you want to use your bikes aux power to charge your GPS whilst its in use then you will need to purchase a mounting that is compatable with your device.

The Kawasaki mounting is pretty flexible as you can use a number of different adapters to run your GPS, I one this for my TomTom

bike mounts are different to car mounts, car use the suction cup, bik mounts tend to bolt to something solid like the kawasaki gtr mount or a holder on your handle bars ect.

If you want to use your car one its going to be difficult to mount it to a bike effectively. Most just get a cheap tank bag from aldi ( currently ) and run it in the clear map pocket. depending on your brand of satnav you may be able to find cheap alternative mounting kits on ebay.
some guys even stick the suction cup to the bike , the screen or even the tach glass, just back it up with a cable tie or safety strap if you do.

Ha ha very funny...Is that one of them Extras you get with a BMW...

Tell you what I did. Not having to use Twat Nav that often was download full uk & Europe onto my I phone for £60. Plugged it into Aux on Autocom , used heavy duty Velcro to hold a I phone protection case to tank bag. Only problem came with using the accessory lead to keep charge up. Unsuppressed noise. I brought a Trent batter back up pack. There handy for being away any how. So all in all works very well for me. Glare can be pain if you put the phone inside the Tank back top bit.
Much cheaper option if your not going to be using one every day. Much cheaper too.
Not bad thinkin for an old Carrot cruncher me thinks...

Bike sat navs are usually used with pre-planned routes which the Apple cannot use
