first pic on the way at one of our many stops for fuel :) 2nd pic was the hotel courtyard in turin italy :)

That's ~450 miles/day. Did your butt not ache on the ZZR? Compared to the GTR how comfortable is the ZZR seat? They are interchangeable and I've been mulling the idea of getting a ZZR seat

As for touring, the only chance I had was last year xmas time and it bloody snowed  :'( I do fancy doing an european tour this summer. All depends on how much I can twist the wife's arm ...

well I would be telling porkies, if I said my arse never ache. but it only ache on 2 of them days, going and coming back! because going we where riding solid except for fuel stops for 10 hours and the same coming back, the rest of the days where fine, because we where stoping off more often! but the zzr1400 is a excellent good all rounder. and very comfortable for long distance, yes the seats are interechangeable but you need to swap the fixings round, but would not say it was any more comfortable than the standard gtr1400 seat. have now got a kawasaki low gel seat on the gtr1400. to early to say its is more comfortable due to the dam weather, not been far enough. also have a corbin seat on the zzr1400 now!

2kwacks, there are some stunning pics there. I'd love to have such an understanding wife that I could get a (bugger off for a week or so permit)  ;D and then get out there to Europe and tour. She's ok with me doing local daily trips but is constantly worried about me going for any longer.  :(

I'll have to try and dig out some pre marriage photos of my trip to St Tropez many, many moons ago.  :)

well my wife can not really say to much, because she will not go. she loves her "hairdo" to much! to destroy it with a helmet, allso she likes to take everythink with her! she allso reckons that its not much fun being on the back of a bike all day! suppose she as a point there, neither would I  ;D p.s will post some more pics of that trip when I have more time!

Planning a French trip for July, down to the old mans gaff near Limoges, intercept le Tour at some stage  ;D and make our way back along the med and up through the Alps. I'm excited already!

we booked the first stop over in reims, great little city we got a hotel in the town centre, then we booked 4 nights in glenoble, excellent base for touring the french and swiz alps. we also to went to torin italy, and booked a hotel when we got there for one night, then we booked a hotel in st quentin for the journey home! are you going with your wife or is this a boys trip!

Going with the wife :o
The routes changed a little no tho, going down through the alps.
Couple of days taking in Le Tour at Gap, spend a couple of days in Millau, calling at the old mans (near Limoges), going to a friends wedding in the same area and back to my Dads and a romantic night in Paris on the way back.... action packed!

So what planning do you do to go on an European tour? Do you book everything in advance (hotels etc) or play it by ear?

I have a cunning plan for this summer. Wifey is thinking of going to see her sister in Germany and I thought I'd take a few weeks off work and go around Europe :D

the last trip we went on was the spear of the moment thing, we booked one night in reims, then booked 4 nights in glennoble, and one night in italy but booked that on the day! then one night in st quenton for on the way home! my mate is doing a expensive disney family holiday this year so may not be able to go >:( fancy a riding partner if you decide to tour france ;)

I will certainly keep that in mind. I like the idea of not planning too far in advance and having a general idea of where I'll be staying.
