Has anyone experienced the following problem?

Today I was out and it was torrential rain. My blue light which shows the full beam is on, started to faintly glow and then came on as if I had put my full beam on- which I had not. I then tried to put full beam on and nothing, the same with the pass trigger switch which operates full beam. Went to the Kawasaki dealer and they said they had seen this once before but nothing wrong with the wiring. They squirted the switch gear with WD 40 and no problems since.

I will keep an eye on it, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this fault.

Yup, happens to mine as well in torrential rain.

Me too.

There was a post about this about a year ago.  A week later I was out in torrential rain and yes...  warning light came on!

Ditto, I remember reading about this yonks ago.

Not sure I am glad to hear this has happened to you, frankly it should not occur. This is a fantastic bike and this is the only hic up it has had since I got it 10000 miles ago in March.

I will now keep the switch gear WD 40d when I wash it and at frequent intervals. Sorry it has happened to you guys, but in some ways comforting to know from those of you who have had this happen that no longterm damage caused. Thanks for feedback.

This happened to me the day I picked up my bike - again in terrential rain . It would appear to be the flash switch filling up with water, WD40 should cure it. However mine hasn't done it since in over 9000 miles.

I had not realised this was such a common fault. At least I know I am not alone. It is really useful at times when you have a problem with the bike to get the feedback from the Kawasaki 1400 GTR site, and that alone makes it worthwhile being a member.

Thanks for posting this thread.

I am going to put some WD40 in my switch before it does it ;) have not had this problem yet and don't really want to.

Think I'll stick some in mine as well. Not that it matters - my bike is lit up like a xmas tree at the front

When it happened to mine only the warning light was illuminated not the main beam headlights.  It did mean I couldn't FLASH my headlight though  :-(

I have just come back from the garage having read these comments and sprayed the switching with a decent dose of ACF 50 ! Came through awful rain this evening on the way home and no problems ! :)
