Sunday 10th October 2010, I had another short ride out on the bike. The season was drawing to a close and it was unpredictable how many more reasonable bike friendly days would be on the table so I took advantage of the good weather and headed out towards Derbyshire, in particular Matlock Bath a place I had never been to before. I'd recently read that it was a popular biking meet so I thought I would go and explore and see what it had to offer.
As is usual these days I had the Gopro charged and ready along with my digital camera hopefully to try and catch some of the atmosphere of the Peak District National Park in and around the area I was planning to visit.
When I arrived at Matlock Bath considering we were talking 10th October I was pleasantly surprised at how many fellow bikers there were there.

Pulling into the car park in Matlock Bath there were all sorts of activities taking place....

I had a quick ride up and down the front or main road where everyone seemed to be gathering although I did see an overspill car park as I rode through which even that was rapidly filling up with bikers. This place must be heaving in the summer months.
Anyway I shot a quick bit of video as I rode through just showing the quantities of bikers there and some of the remainder of my ride as I went into Winster and up through the Peak District National Park towards Castleton and Stannington.

I've got to admit I quite liked Winster, a quiet little village atmosphere, I think it would be a great place to live.
I had a ride into Matlock and visited the Square & Compass pub, a great deal of history to this pub and a place that I have been before, they do great food.  It's very biker friendly and they even have a plot of land opposite which they allow camping on.

Whilst travelling up through the National ParkI saw this sign which caught my eye, nothing unique about it, I'm sure we have all seen it before but I just thought its placing at that exact spot was a tad inappropriate......or maybe not, depending on your perspective. Have a gander through the trees.

And that's it, a great day out, no rain, no mishaps. Got home, gave the bike a quick wash down and all ready planning where I can go this weekend weather permitting!!

I had to Google Matlock. Never heard of it before! Looks like a quaint and traditional English village. I assume there are some great routes there as that's why bikers congregate there?

Not looked at the video yet but will have a gender when I get out of the hell hole that is work

NB, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Winster etc and up around the Peak District is terrific biking territory.

Throttle fullly open :o

I'm a sedate rider, I ride to relax. I drive high powered performance cars at work for a living so when I'm out on two wheels I just chill ;D

You weren't that driver of the BMW M5 that has a number plate of 005 NXT (i.e whose next)?

If I had better tyres on the bike he'd have been next!
