I have had Maxxiss fitted for the last 22,000 miles, brilliant tyres as good as if not better than other makes, utter confidence wet or dry. I get between 5 - 6.5k per rear the front i get 10,000, so far i have had 3 pair and 1 rear, the most recent 1000 miles ago, i cant praise them enough, best of all £165 fitted for the pair, dont be put off by the price / make all my friends are fitting them to their bikes and more and more race teams are fitting them. I was sceptical at first and if they no good within the first week or so they would have come straight off!!!.
More likely YOU would have come straight off !! ;D ;D

Hello,
Having just fitted a set of pillion lowered foot pegs, my wife's right foot catches the exhaust. although her boot size is only small the heel is still catching the exhaust apart from her boot heel melting it will obviously mark the exhaust in time >:(

This is where the help is required.

1. Can you buy a guard which would protect the exhaust ?
2. Where would you buy one from ?
3. If all else fails could one be made and who would be able to make one at a reasonable price ?

I can hear you all saying leave the wife at home and that way the exhaust would be fine .......but thats not the case >:(

Any ideas please  :) :)

How hot does that particular part of the exhaust get? Too hot for some heavy duty clear protective film or would it need something more substantial like a metal shield?

mecki

Let the wife get her own bike and you won't have problems like that.
Or if that's not an option move the pegs back where they belong.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Thanks LW

But it would be too hot for the protective film to work it would more than likely melt !

This might not be the most attractive option but it should work and its reasonably priced.

try http://www.rg-racing.com/ am sure they do a universal exhaust protector, it's designed to fit either end of the can to limit damaged to the exhaust if bike meets floor :'(  may fit anywhere along the exhaust so your wifes boot will rest on the top.
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

More likely YOU would have come straight off !!

YOU are missing the point, i would have known the tyres were no good before any off would have happened.
get a grip and deal with it

Rusty

No Zedman...  !  ;D ... I know you are an experienced rider and I KNOW that you would have changed the tyres before anything would of happened, that's why I said " More likely YOU would have come off ! " I was being funny, having a laugh, poking fun, just being silly, it was a joke, a sense of humour and all that  ;D
I know many of my friends who have mountain bikes ( not quite the same wear and tear ) use Maxxiss and they too rate them very highly .... £165 fitted is an excellent price but I have to say I havn't seen them in the dealer workshops .... maybe worth a mention next time I am there. ;)

zedmeister

Sorry rustyman, i was in BMW MODE, ie, i  do not have a sense of humour, What is funny ???, laugh!! i only frown, Fun -- not for me.

I dont think you will see them in dealerships yet, there's probably not enough profit in the tyres for them, but as they say "from little acorns"
get a grip and deal with it

Rusty

Zedman ... you have got it spot on .... " Not enough profit " !!!

Thomo

I had Dunlop road smart and I thought they were rubbish they fell a part. I have road pilot 2 on and are lasting with good miles. I am thinking road pilot 3 next time.

Rusty

As I am sure you may have already read here the PR'3s are excellent and we all rave about them ... there is a lot of good rubber out there but I have to say that they are very good indeed.
