All amateurs, ;D just bear with me while I get myself home and I'll have a look how I fitted it on mine, I can't remember off the top of my head but it's simple.

Lonewolf

Alan, apologies for the very late reply. I had a quick look at my set up today. I have simply fed the cables from the PTT on the left side of the bike back towards the autocom. I have lots of spare cable and from memory I just taped it to the side of the body on the rubber but in the groove created at the edge of the tank. Have a look at the photo. This is an old photo and before you start to panic you DO NOT have to remove this much faring to place the cables, I believe I had all this fairing off as I was changing the coolant plus just generally tinkering about. This photo does not show the PTT fitted but  hopefully will show you how easy it is to situate the cabling. I secured the cables to the black rubber surface with some strong adhesive tape and then once the fairing is replaced everything is tidied up. Simples.

With the fairing removed it looks an easy job, removing the fairing looks like a right hassle, i once on a Sprint tried to remove a fairing and "tugged" gently as what i thought was a clip and ripped the damm thing in half, hense my reluctance to remove this beast.

I guess before removing the middle bit of the fairing i have to remove completely the cubby box and that includes the bolt right at the bottom of it?

And it say the fairing has "tags" to secure it, i dont want to break it when its this new so maybe i ought to ask the dealer how it comes off on monday when its in for its forst service.

Cars i can muck about with at my leasure, bikes i am not so confident.

Oh, are the rear spare connectors always live or are they dead when the ignition is off? no point in me wiring the autocom to them if there always on.

Thanks
Alan

Alan, the power to the rear connectors is dead when the ignition is off, just as the front ones are. Even the cig lighter accessory to the front right of the bike is dead without the ignition on.
The fairings do have tags to link them all together but the fairing is incredibly easy to remove. I'm not sure if you will have to remove the cubby box as my bike is not as new as yours and there may be a slight difference in the fixings. All in all a very simple procedure in any case.
If you are not confident though perhaps best to leave it alone and let someone else fit it. Or you could ride upto Bradford and I'll do it for you.  ;D

Hans

Just had a long test of the Interphone TRIBE... fanatic fantastic...  just pair with your bluetooth helmet (and everything else you might want to) - and then you go! On "high power" we could speak up to 6-7km in distance on the german autobahn... simply good! :-)
Powerconsump. is for 9-10 hours with lots of talking....

We was 4 guys in this test....
Cheers,
Hans

Lonewolf, looked like an excellent write up unfortunately all the pictures have gone, was these part of the photobucket policy change?

The problem with the fixed intercoms vs the bluetooth, if that if you save a couple of bikes then it is not easily transferable between the two.

Bloody hell, this is an old thread!  :mfr_lol: Yes I deleted all the photos due to Photobucket changing their policy previously. Ive only ever had one bike at a time, so wasn't a problem for me.

photobucket really screwed up lots of Forums. I can understand that they wanted to introduce a charge, but I think £300 a year for a single user was crazy, £5-10 would have been OK. Anyway too late now and I think most of the photobucket users have departed.

I use Smugmug now for my business website which also has the ability to host photos to forums from within it and act as an archive system for my photos and videos. Customer service is rapid despite it being in America and it doesn't cost me £300 per year!  :mfr_lol:
