The Dark Side / Re: GTR to H2 SX

Try a KTM SD GT
More torque than H2
More bhp than GTR
Only just over 200kgs wet
Sensible riding position
Pulls from nothing
Got all the bells and whistles
What’s not to like ?

OK the looks can be challenging to some but once ridden 👌😎

I've bought the 2019 Super Duke GT, after trying various options, the H2 SX being one of them. The H2 SX really is a good bike but more sporting than touring and the low down fuelling is an issue as to keep things smooth you need the bike to be on boost and keep the revs up. The wife was not too keen as she suffered badly from wind blast as I was leant much further forward due to the riding position. After various test rides the SD GT won the day. We picked the bike up a week before our 2 week euro tour and we both found the bike comfortable to run a full tank of fuel (240 miles cruising) before stopping for a break. Riding it solo it can be ridden as quick as any sport bike so the bike suits my needs.

Enjoy your new bike, a lot more manageable than the GTR.

Talk about eye of the beholder, sorry Robbie but that lots fugly to me, I do like the orange though.
It certainly is but as I have been told before not all ugly things are a bad ride  :punk:

Panniers look rather small.
32 litres a side, and I have a 57 litre top box, it gives more than enough space for myself and the wife for 2 weeks away, including her taking hair straighteners and many other items that never get used but are there just in case. In the tradition of some 30 years touring the continent and beyond I get one pannier, the wife gets the rest with the exception of our waterproofs are in the top box.

Bought myself a new bike just before we went to Europe, 2,300 miles while we were away, I am very impressed with it so far.

I have the good fortune to have options, I have the GTR for long distance touring with the wife but also have a Suzuki GSX S1000 for when I'm on my own, I did go to Europe on it last month and covered 2300 miles while away. Works well for one person.

If the bike is just for yourself, I'd suggest looking at the Versys 650 or Suzuki SV650, both very capable touring bikes and have toured in our group on many occasions, Ron is 83 years young and chucks the SV around like a GP rider when he wants too, not the fastest o-100 but certainly capable of riding comfortably in a group.

Not so ironic on  GTR1400 site when Kawasaki has discontinued the GTR line.
Even I am starting to look at BMWs as Kawas ideas of SportTouring now seems to be sportsbikes with panniers  :mfr_lol: :rip: :hang:

I'll be keeping the GTR for some time yet as it won't be used that much, a few odd weekends when the wife comes out on the back and European touring with the wife. I have my GSXS1000 for me when I go out with my mates. I can't see a real option available at the minute to replace the GTR. Yes there is the FJR but I tried one and couldn't get on with it, the K1600GT is just too big, in the same bracket as the Honda armchair thingy. I do like the H2SX but again it's more suited to one person. I may own the GTR for a lot of years to come.

Nice one ... .I LOVE the blue colour
How is it ?
Put some miles on it in this hot summer weather ?
Lovely to ride, great fun and obvious weight difference to the GTR, rear shock is the only real disappointment, very poor high speed damping, looking at various alternative to replace it.
Good ride out on it last weekend, 250 odd miles Saturday and 300 Sunday.

Keeping the GTR for touring, but found a 144 miles from new GSX S1000 at a very reasonable price so I now have a new toy to play out on. :punk:

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the H2 SX, I'm considering one as an addition not to replace my GTR but as a solo use bike when the wife doesn't come out.
