The Dark Side / Re: Orange side, gray side or dark side?

Nice on buddy ...BUT I have just found out that all KTMS are on world wide recall due to a wiring loom fault and ABS and brake failure.
Make sure the work has been done before u accept it.
Hope this helps you and others

Being a KTM Owner - do you want to know what the recall is - A cable tie!  That cost me 20 in petrol and 12 in a subway for lunch! (for 2) ;-)  Most expensive cable tie ever!

In very rare cases, the wiring loom could chaff on the frame and create a shortage in the ABS system causing failure.

It might even cost me more that that - because while I was in there - I was looking at another bike!

Recalls - just an excuse to get you back in the shop!

Neil

ps.  Sorry, didn't read the youtube video post before I posted.  ;-)

I get what your saying, but at 15-16stone, those bikes are just too light for me to be comfortable.

anything that gets below 150kg and weight is too light for me, and until I lost it on the way home - I had some great footage of me getting my 1290SA airborne offroad!  :-)  although I did get the GTR airborne in Scotland  ;-)

Big adventure bikes are great, I certainly had no problems - but they do take a bit of confidence.....

I so want to have a go at this....

Unfortunately, not much of this available in this country......  :-)

I think I've decided on the bike I'm next seeking out!  I don't think I would entertain a Versys 1000. so.....

A Ducati Multistrada 1200 - not offroad, but road biased (for seating position and handling) with 17" wheels. enough power to keep me happy, with the entire sports range of tire choices...

I'll just ignore the other half, and if all goes well with a Ducati - I'll put some offroad rubber on Katie and use it properly.

Also Multistrada was on the Bucket list before I bought my first GTR....

Thanks 2K, but I've already been assimilated by the darker side... I have a 1290 Super Adventure! Commonly known as Katie M.   But it's not slow, same power and torque as the GTR but 70kg lighter (that's an Italian)...   It's an awesome bit of kit that is just mental....

I'm going to trade the Fireblade for something else, but not sure what to go for.  Other half gets a bit upset when I take Katie greenlaning because of her value...

I guess I'm going to have to keep looking!

Interesting....

Just not sure I would be able to live with the less than 100bhp!

So, I know, I been lost to the dark side and my European KTM for 18 months now and at certain times the KTM is. Nicer bike - especially when green laning. ;-)

However, I have a 2005 Fireblade in the garage that I'm looking at trading - for a New Honda Africa Twin.....   Just wanted my old buddies opinion! As some of you I've know since 2008!

Any comments?   Africa Twin v Kawasaki Verses?   I was looking for a bike to go more off-road, but don't want to spend another 15k.....

Thoughts?

Thanks

Neil
